DREAM THEATER Drummer 'Reviews' RUSH's Concert In New Jersey
July 9, 2007DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy attended RUSH's July 6 gig at the Tweeter Center in Camden, New Jersey, and has issued the following comment:
"I was indeed at the Camden show. (In fact, I was there for most of the afternoon as Neil Peart was gracious enough to invite me down for soundcheck to say hello and check out his new kit.)
"The show was really great. I really loved the setlist... when I initially saw it on paper, I wasn't that impressed - but then hearing all of the songs live, it really clicked how great the song selection was.
"Of course, being partial to the older stuff, I was most excited to hear 'Entre Nous', 'Circumstances', 'Bangkok' and 'Digital Man'... but even some of my other favorites that I have seen so many times before like 'Witch Hunt', 'Subdivisions' and 'Natural Science' sounded better than ever! And I really thought all of the new material really came alive on stage and gave me a whole new level of appreciation for them...
"They still put on one hell of a show!! Two thumbs way up!"
RUSH performed at the Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York on Monday (July 2). Check out pictures from LFI. Watch fan-filmed video footage on YouTube.
RUSH's new album, "Snakes & Arrows", has rebounded a bit on the Billboard album chart in the U.S. After nearly falling out of the top 100 last week at #93 with sales of just over 8,000 copies, this week it moves back up nearly 40 spots to come in at #55 (with sales of 13,400 copies). This substantial jump is mostly due to last week's release of the MVI version of "Snakes & Arrows". It also jumped 30 spots back into the top 50 from #75 to #45 on the Canadian chart.
RUSH's 18th studio album, "Snakes & Arrows", debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard album chart with sales of 93,000 copies. The disc is the first collection of all-new RUSH material since 2002's "Vapor Trails" and the 27th RUSH release to make the Billboard album chart. The band's chart peak was in 1993, when "Counterparts" debuted at No. 2.
"Snakes & Arrows" has sold 201,000 copies in the United States since its May 1 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
